At the Centre for Teaching and Learning, we empower Western graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to create transformational learning experiences. We carefully design our professional development programs for Teaching Assistants, international graduate students, and doctoral students to help you develop and refine skills that benefit you during your studies and into your future career.

Every grad student and postdoc interested in teaching is welcome in the CTL’s suite of TA Programs – you do not need to be a TA or have a teaching contract to register!
We offer a range of face-to-face, blended, and online programs to help you:
- Build your confidence presenting complex topics to diverse audiences
- Enhance your facilitation, group work, leadership, and mentorship skills
- Learn about research-supported innovations in teaching
- Develop competencies that employers value (e.g., organization, critical thinking, teamwork, intercultural communication, public speaking, mental health literacy, EDI, etc.)
- Upgrade your teaching dossier with the Western Certificate in University Teaching and Learning
