Academic Integrity Module

This module is designed to help students understand the meaning of academic integrity and develop the skills necessary to avoiding academic offences. We suggest it be used in combination with discipline-specific academic integrity learning opportunities.

The module covers the following topics:

  • What academic integrity means and why it matters
  • Strategies to avoid misconduct (e.g., citation, collaboration, time management)
  • Common scholastic offences (e.g., plagiarism, cheating, falsification)
  • Consequences of violations and how to uphold integrity in your work

Access Training: Log in to OWL Brightspace using your Western email. Once logged in click ‘Enroll in Course’ to begin.

Training Quiz: You must complete and pass the quiz at the end of the Academic Integrity Module with a minimum score of 12/15.

Please note: This training is part of the required training suite for all incoming students, along with Consent 101. Students who do not complete the Academic Integrity Module by the deadline will have an academic seal placed on their records and will not be able to add/drop courses, obtain a transcript, or Intent to Register the following year.
